| Thu 14th Jun 2007 NEWTONGRANGE REMEMBERED NEWTONGRANGE or Nitten as it was known was the original GMP track. Lying about 7 miles South of Edinburgh, the track opened its doors in 1981, then lived for just 8 seasons. The final meeting was on 3.1.89 before the authorities shut the track with undue haste |
| Tue 26th Jun 2007 ARMADALE REMEMBERED Armadale Raceway until 1971 was a West Lothian dog track. All that changed when in spring 71 the cars arrived with the first meeting held on 28-5-71.
For 10 years it was Spedeworth Scotlands 2nd track until in 1982 it changed sides to be GMP's 2nd track for a single season. 1983 saw it revert back to the Spedeworth organisation until the end of the 84 season when the cars withdrew. It was back in 1987 after Spedeworth Scotland were removed from Cowdenbeath and the promotion saw it days out at Armadale. After Spedeworth Scotlands demise it lasted 2 more seasons as Spedworth Armadale until the lastr meet was run on 28-12-91. Since then it has continued to survive as a Speedway and dog track despite now finding on two sides large private housing within 100m of the stadium |
| Thu 19th Jul 2007 Crimond down the years Crimond Raceway is the UK's most northerly track. Crimond ran it's first meeting in June 1970 and has continued on the former airfield ever since, making it Scotlands longest continously running track, although in total it has done 3 seasons less than Cowdie.
This album looks at Crimond down the years from the late 1980's onwards. |

Anglias & Mk1 Escorts The early years of the formula presented grids largely consisting of Anglia 105's & Mk1 Escorts along with some Hillman Imps. |
MK2 Escorts By the 2nd half of the 1970's the Mk1 and 105's were rapidly disappearing as the Mk2 Escort became the almost obligitory steed. As ever there was the occassional exception as illustrated |
The Starlet Era 1981- 1986 1981 saw the end of the Golden Era and the start of the Modern era, lead by Ormond Christies all conquering Toyota Starlet. The Starlet soon became almost the obligitory machine for much of the 1980's. A few other designs like the Mazda 323 got a look in |
Peugeot 205 & Fiesta (Late 80's/early 90's) The latter 1980s saw the Starlet dominance start to fade and through to the mid 90's the Peugeot 205 became the formulas mainstay along with Fiestas and the occassional VW, other models such as the Corsa & Clio got a look in |
P206 - VW's -TT's &Tigras The new decade dawned with the Peugeot 206 as the "in" chassis, subsequently the TT appeared in small numbers before the Tigra became dominant frame, with as in any era a few others getting a look in |
